Develop Executive Functioning Skills with Our Academic Coaches
General academic abilities such as study, organizational, and time-management skills are often not directly taught in the classroom. A lack of these executive functioning skills (or, “strong student skills”) lowers overall academic performance. Oftentimes, students who struggle with cultivating strong student skills need personalized help. Academic coaching can help students to develop these skills. All academic coaches are trained by Hodis Learning & Music’s president, who uses his 10+ years of experience as an academic coach and training in Clinical Psychology to help our coaches optimize sessions. Get your student the help they need by hiring one of our expert academic coaches.

Does Your Student Need Academic Coaching?
If your student shows any of the following symptoms, then academic coaching may be a good fit:
- Has a learning difference (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc.)
- Struggles with executive functioning skills
- Turns in assignments late
- Loses track of exam dates
- Has trouble studying or doesn’t study at all
- Stays up late at night/wakes up early to do homework
- Has a messy backpack/binder/study area
- Earns poor grades due to factors unrelated to their understanding of the material
How Does Academic Coaching Work?
Coaches will sit down with each student and talk through how they plan, prepare, and engage in classes. With a foundational understanding of how the student operates, the coach will then make recommendations and start implementing smarter and stronger habits.
01
Deep Understanding of The Student’s Needs
At the very first session, coaches ask parents and students a number of questions to get a deep understanding of the student’s needs for academic coaching. This intake will help to inform the following sessions.
02
Customized Instruction
Coaches prepare lesson plans tailored to students’ needs relating to organizational, time-management, and study skills. Our lesson plans incorporate skills that are backed by science to ensure that students get the most out of their sessions.
03
Development of Academic Skills
After students receive instruction, coaches work with them to develop and master these skills.
04
Course Management
In each coaching session, coaches dedicate time to helping students stay on top of upcoming assignments and tests.
05
Optimization of Sessions
Coaches meet weekly with Hodis Learning & Music founder, Drew M. Hodis, who uses his 10+ years as an academic coach and training in Clinical Psychology to help coaches refine their lesson plans and optimize students’ coaching sessions.
